A significant stride toward global sustainable energy solutions was announced on the 13th of March at the Transforming Energy Access Forum 2024 in Kigali. Amphibious Energy, a leader in renewable energy innovations, proudly reveals its participation in the Zephattan project, a winner of the prestigious Zero Emission Generators (ZE-Gen) Demonstrator funding competition, part of the Zero Emission Generators (ZE-Gen) initiative.
The ZE-Gen Demonstrator, a £2 million funding competition seeks to showcase the capability, applicability, and scalability of integrated renewable alternatives to fossil-fueled generators. Amphibious Energy’s EnergyPod, known for its resilience and renewable energy integration, will play a pivotal role in powering this innovative Zephattan project.
Led by British e-mobility charge-point developer Aegis Energy, the Zephattan project aims to leverage wind-generator technologies as a demonstration of their ability to replace polluting diesel gensets. The wind technologies demonstrated by the Zephattan project will help to address the energy needs of remote and off-grid communities in Côte d’Ivoire and Fiji.
Key Points of the Zephattan Project:
- Renewable Energy Mobility: The Zephattan project will pioneer the use of wind-powered generators to charge e-mobility batteries, contributing to sustainable and clean transportation solutions.
- Environmental Impact: With the potential to save around 500 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions during six months of field testing, the project aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon footprints.
- Collaborative Innovation: Amphibious Energy joins forces with Aegis Energy, KOC Bridges to Peace, and Leaf Capital, bringing together expertise in renewable energy, social inclusion programming, and development finance to ensure the success of the Zephattan initiative.
Amphibious Energy’s EnergyPod, renowned for its modular design and adaptability to harsh offshore environments, will provide a reliable and resilient power supply for the Zephattan project. This collaboration underscores Amphibious Energy’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and accelerating the transition to renewable alternatives.
ZE-Gen is a collaborative initiative by the Carbon Trust and Innovate UK, with support from the IKEA Foundation and UK aid through the UK Government’s Ayrton Fund, via the Transforming Energy Access (TEA) platform.Quotes:

The Zephattan project, supported by ZE-Gen and Amphibious Energy, stands as a testament to the transformative power of renewable energy solutions in addressing the energy challenges of remote and off-grid communities.
About ZE-Gen:
ZE-Gen is a collaborative initiative by the Carbon Trust and Innovate UK, with support from the IKEA Foundation and UK aid through the UK Government’s Ayrton Fund, via the Transforming Energy Access (TEA) platform.
Launched at COP27 with an initial commitment of over £15 million and an ambition to scale to £100 million, ZE-Gen is designed to tackle barriers, accelerate innovation and fund activities to build a thriving, competitive market for renewable alternatives to fossil-fuelled generators.
Additional funding for the ZE-Gen Demonstrator Competition is being provided by the UK Department for Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development office (FCDO).
